Why We Should All Switch To Organic Lube

“Why We Should All Switch To Organic Lube”
by Ezekiel MacNevin at SameSame

“The hauntingly familiar labels of ‘KY Jelly’, ‘Durex Play’, ‘Swiss Navy’ and (if stranded on a desert island) ‘Petroleum Jelly’ are sure to excite and arouse with the prospect of sex.

Whether straight, gay, post-menopausal, condom-safe, bareback or flying solo – sometimes things don’t slide or fit properly. Thus we grease our genitals with personal lubricants to get the ball rolling.

Here’s the thing: genital tissue is delicate and highly absorbent of chemical compounds, especially the ones found in most personal lubricants on the market. Just because something is water-based doesn’t mean it’s not toxic…” READ MORE

Improved Recipe

To ensure you get optimal performance from your personal lubricant, while still using the most natural ingredients possible, we have now added Amigel® (Sclerotium Gum) to our recipe.

Amigel® is a 100% natural water-based gelling and thickening agent which makes our original FlowMotion Organic Lubricant recipe even more luxurious. You will find FlowMotion a bit thicker, lasts longer, and is even more slippery.

Amigel® is totally non-toxic, non-allergenic. It has natural skin smoothing and skin soothing properties, and is very hydrating for the skin.

We are sure you will love it as much as we do!

Nelson Chambers Business Awards

FlowMotion Ltd was proud to be a finalist in two awards; the NZME SME Award and Chamber Innovation Award.

The Chamber writes:
More than 300 guests attended the premier awards evening at Nelson’s Rutherford Hotel where they were entertained by MC Duncan Garner,  Epic Entertainment dancers who performed on hoops suspended from the ceiling and Nelson band Django Schmango.

Chamber of Commerce chief executive Dot Kettle said the awards had once again highlighted the diverse range of businesses and depth of business talent in the region.

“It’s a pretty tough process to enter the awards and the judges have an incredibly difficult job determining finalists and winners.  Special tribute was made to Robyn Reid who has been a judge for many years and this will be her final year judging the awards.

“All the businesses who entered this year can be very proud of their success and the contribution they are making to our business community.  To the finalists and award winners, congratulations. ” Dot Kettle said… read more

North Island Supermarkets

I really wanted to start announcements with “Coming Soon…”, but it always seems a bit cliché for a lubricant ad. In fact, it is almost impossible to talk about lubricants without innuendo. Even ‘innuendo’ sounds like an innuendo.

So how does a lubricant company talk about ‘market penetration’ without sounding a bit.. well, you know… It’s a slippery slope!

Jokes aside, FlowMotion is the first certified organic lubricant to grace the supermarket shelves. We are really proud of this achievement. FlowMotion is already available in South Island supermarkets, and we are really excited to announce its recent penetration into North Island.

Keep an eye on our store finder, as we hope to be coming soon to a store near you.

Natural Products Industry Overview

Wellness and good health are priceless commodities. And in aid of the nation’s fiscal fitness, the natural products industry contributed a healthy $1.4 billion to the NZ economy last year, up $1 billon in the last 5 years.

As more and more awareness grows around our food ingredients, and the safety of the health care products we use, many of us are reaching for natural and organic alternatives.

Natural products including everyday and novel foods, such as manuka honey, colostrum, greenlipped mussels and fish oils, deer velvet, bee venom, flaxseed, horopito, and botanical extracts. Nutraceuticals and dietary supplements, cosmeceuticals and body care products, also contribute to the industry. Industry support services include manufacturers, testing laboratories, packaging companies, and legal and marketing experts.

The natural products industry in New Zealand is made up primarily of small businesses, some which have evolved from the garden shed into large and successful export businesses.

Most of the natural products manufactured in NZ are consumed by the NZ market (50%), with Australia(16.4%), the United States (7.4%) and Asia countries (16.5% combined total) our main export destinations. The natural products industry employs around 4,600 people and contributes over $250 million in wages.

Natural Product New Zealand (NPNZ) is an organisation set up to bring natural product companies together, allowing its members a unified voice in determining the direction of the industry. NPNZ is active in encouraging high standards, maintaining New Zealand’s reputation for excellent products, and endeavours to ensure its members have access to local and international markets. NPNZ membership represents about 80 percent of the NZ natural products industry.

Nelson is a large contributor to those figures. Not only do NPNZ member companies such as Seadragon Marine Oils, Oxygen Skincare, Nelson Honey & Marketing, Go Healthy NZ, Forest Herbs Research, Mountain Red, Natrapak, and FlowMotion make their base in Nelson, Nelson is also home to world-class suppliers of services, such as testing labs Cawthron Institute and Supreme Biotechnologies, and product manufacturers such as Nutizeal, and Alaron Products.

Alaron Products must be one of Nelson’s best kept secrets, a huge factory in Tahunanui tucked away behind the hedges. Alaron Products is New Zealand’s most respected GMP Certified manufacturer of dietary supplements, complementary medicines, nutraceuticals, vitamins, powder blends, and cosmetic and personal care products.

Certified by the New Zealand Ministry of Health MedSafe Division, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration, the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries, and the NZMPI Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines division, Alaron is strictly a contract and private label manufacturer.

One of the private label brands currently being manufactured at Alaron is FlowMotion Organic Lubricant. FlowMotion Ltd is a fledgling Nelson business which launched its only product, FlowMotion Organic Lubricant, in June of 2014.

Though a new-comer to the natural products industry, founder and Managing Director, Michele Surcouf has only good things to say about the industry.

“The whole process of introducing a new product to the market has been a huge learning experience for me. As a one-woman business, there have been a lot of challenges and some frustrations along the way. But the assistance and the expertise I have had from the NPNZ, other industry members, and service providers such as Alaron, has been invaluable to the growth of my business.”

Having received the green light by Foodstuffs South Island in November of 2014, FlowMotion Organic Lubricant is now the first BioGro Certified Organic personal lubricant to find a place on the supermarket shelves in New Zealand.

“This is something I am really proud of.” says Michele. “My market research showed most people buy their lubricant at the supermarket, so that is where I wanted to place my product. I’ve just commissioned a TV commercial, which should be airing soon. I hope to increase, not only sales, but awareness of the availability of an organic choice.”

FlowMotion Ltd received the James and Well’s Highly Commended Award for Innovation in Marketing, awarded by Natural Product New Zealand Inc at the 2015 Summit in Rotorua (18 March), with the top award going to Comvita. This award recognises innovative marketing and promotion of the company’s products.

HIGHLY COMMENDED: FLOWMOTION

Nelson-based FlowMotion produces, markets and distributes FlowMotion Organic Lubricant. It is the only organic personal lubricant sold in New Zealand supermarkets, and is also one of only two BioGrow NZ Certified Organic personal lubricant products sold in this country.

Since identifying a gap in the market, it took founder Michele Surcouf less than a year to develop, market and distribute the product, which has rapidly gained a strong and rapidly growing following throughout New Zealand.

Judges commented that FlowMotion totally gets how to market a new product, and had well researched customer insights.

FlowMotion Organic Lubricant Gel – Review by SexToysBuzz

Multi-award winning review site, SexToysBuzz, has this to say about FlowMotion Organic Lubricant…

“We receive adult products to test from all around the world but it’s difficult to get one from further away than New Zealand, in fact it’s impossible. It arrived “Par Avion” a week ago and had been staring at me from the corner of my desk ever since.

This is a personal lubricant that aims to be as organic as possible with the only concession to chemicals being an organically derived preservative to ensure no nasty bugs can grow in the product that might then give you a problem when using it on your intimate areas. The preservative they have chosen is FDA and EU approved for use in everything from cosmetics to face creams and even in the preservation of fruit. I mention this because we are big believers in making sure that anything that comes into intimate contact with your body should be as safe and free from potentially dangerous substances as possible. So FlowMotion Organic Lubricant Gel looks good to us before we even open the box.

And before we do open the box we can read all about the lubricant because of its clear but comprehensive description of the product and the company’s ethos. Honestly it’s a bit hippy-ish and very much about “Going with the flow”, their pun not mine I hasten to emphasise. The box is a nice colour combination to, not gender specific in its green and purple ground covered in white text. Inside is a tube of lube capped with a flip-top and foil seal. You’re advised to use the product within 6 months once the seal has been removed. That’s good practice anyway with any lubricant and we would say dispose of lubricants sooner after first use if it’s stored in a warm room for example.

I chose to test the lube with a Fleshlight that I’d had for review. I found that using it with a masturbator like this was very easy because having a flip tip means you can open and apply the FlowMotion lubricant one handed, leaving the other hand free to hold your penis or the sex toy. While Flow Motion Organic Lubricant is billed as a Gel I found it somewhere between a liquid and a true gel. That’s a pity because I find gels are a little easier to control but it’s not a criticism. To control the viscosity of a lubricant many manufacturers would add various chemicals, that’s not what FlowMotion Lubricants are about as this would compromise their Organic credentials.

The low viscosity didn’t compromise the effectiveness of the lube at all when using the masturbator but did mean I had to be careful not to apply too much. You don’t need a great deal of this lube for it to be effective and long lasting.

A decent squirt of FlowMotion Lube would have kept me going for far longer than it took to cum in the Fleshlight and afterwards cleaning up was easy as the lube hadn’t turned into a sticky or flaky mess that is often the result of a long session with water based lubricants.

This product has been certified organic and by the New Zealand Vegetarian Association so the creators of FlowMotion Organic Lubricant Gel have made every effort to support the voracity of their clean, organic credentials.

I really am impressed by this lubricant. It’s long lasting, effective and easy to clean up after use because the only sticky residue is the one made by you! The flip top means it’s easy to apply and difficult to spill in the heat of passion which is a consideration that tends to get forgotten. If the creators could find a way to make it a little more gel like without adding any nasty chemicals then it would be pretty much perfect.”

Older Women Want More Sex – Not Less.

In her article, CLARE KERMOND writes about Older Women and Sex…

NOT LACKING IN LIBIDO: Research shows many women in their 60s, 70s and 80s have more time for sex than ever before…

… Researchers on a joint Victorian and New South Wales study, Sex, Desire and Pleasure: Considering the Experiences of Older Australian Women, say their findings have debunked many of the myths surrounding sex for older women.

Dr Bianca Fileborn, of La Trobe University’s Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, says far from women’s level of sexual desire gradually fading away over time, many women’s appetite for sex and intimacy increases in later years and that this is driven by factors other than ageing.

“Some women did experience that kind of gradual decline, particularly as they went through menopause, [but] for other women they experienced a great increase in sexual desire. For a lot of women their sexual desire was quite fluid across their lives…
